Hamlet play is very famous play by Shakespeare Kenneth branagh made movie on this plane this movie is very near to the original play so let's discuss it.
1) How faithful is the movie to the original play?
The Movie Hamlet by Kenneth branagh is more faithful to the original play, compared it with others movie. The movie is very faithful to play in manner of self talk and monologue. It's dialogues are also taken from original one which spoken by the characters in the movie some scene like,
Ghost scene
|
Bed chamber scene
|
Play within play
|
Prayer scene
|
Nunnery scene
|
Grave digging scene
|
Duel between Lester and Hamlet
|
There is different in 20th century's Denmark and in the movie's Denmark because that time Denmark was not so rich as we seen in a movie. Then in original play Hamlet is a young scholar written from Oxford University about 20 years old,but in the movie Hamlet was middle age Kenneth branagh play hamlets roll by self.
2) After watching the movie have your perception about play characters or situation changed?
After after watching the movie according to my perception about Polonius and Gertrude. We know that she also want to be claudius so Gertrude also involved in King's Hamlet's murder but we can not see any scene related her of involvement in the movie and also the character of Polonius,he is a chief counsellor of king Clodious but someway by his role in movie we can't feel like that he has a responsibility of the counsellor.
3) Do you feel 'aesthetic delight 'while watching the movie? If yes, exactly when did it happen ?If no, can you explain with reason ?
Yes ,I felt the aesthetic delight, while watching the movie .One when Hamlet accept that he loved Ophelia during digging scene. Then when he want to know the name of his father's murdered.
4) Do you feel 'Catharsis'while or after watching movie? If yes, exactly when did it happen ?If no, can you explain with reason ?
While watching movie yes, I felt 'Catharsis '.when Hamlet was so possessive love for his father and that why he became a mad. Then ,Hamlet express his love for Ophelia but now she is no more.pity and fear that emotion I have felt during the movie.
5) Does screeing of movie help you in better understanding of the play?
yes this movie is very related to original play so it is very useful to see the situation from the Play through this movie and Character's expression specially the ghost scene and Hamlet spot about to be or not to be the play within place in also very well in the movie so he has the movie is very useful and faithful to understand the Hamlet by Kenneth to understand the Hamlet by Shakespeare.
6) Was there any particular scene or moment in the movie that you will cherish lifetime?
Yes. There are two scene. One is the Nunnery scene, kannath branagh talking in front of mirror.
Other one is the digging scene. Hamlet and the digger man talk about the philosophy about death and so on. Click here to watch.
7) If you are director, what changes would you like to make in the remaking of movie on Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’?
8)In the beginning of the movie, camera rolls over the statue of King Hamlet out side the Elsinore castle. The movie ends with the similar sequence wherein the statue of the King Hamlet is hammered down to the dust. What sort of symbolism do you read in this? (Clue: In Book IX of 'Paradise Lost', Satan reflects on his revenge motive: "But what will not ambition andrevenge; Descend to? Who aspires must down as low; As high he soared, obnoxious, first or last, To basest things. Revenge, at first though sweet, Bitter ere long back on itself recoils." Is it not King Hamlet's ambition to avenge his death responsible for the downfall of his kingdom which is symbolically pictured in last scenes?)
This movie is based on the name of Hamlet who is the protagonist of the play by Shakespeare .In the movie we can see the statue of King Hamlet and also written name of Hamlet but in a last scene the statue hammered down to the dust.we can give some possible view about that that revenge is taken by Hamlet to kill Claudius and death of Gertrude also.Second is king Hamlet got salvation.after it also we can assume that because of the revenge king Hamlet's Hamlet also die.so the state fallen and the new ruler is now there.

Moral philosophical approach

Historical approach

Psychological approach

Feminist approach

10)Which of the above mentioned approaches (in Pre-viewing task) appeals you more than other? Why? Give reasons.
Feminist approach appeal me more than other. In this movie there are female characters Ophelia and Gertrude. They both are victimized by the male dominated society. They both are huminated by the protagonist Hamlet .Ophelia also victimized by her father and her brother in case of love with a prince Hamlet. We can see that Hamlet also hurt her with his words during Nunnery scene and rejected her, polonius and cloudious also use like she is pawn for them.
