One night at the call centre is the novel written by Chetan Bhagat. We can find some theme and sub theme as well. It is upon Globalisation, self -help, Manippean satire and so on.
Here I want to talk about the Globalisation. What is it and how it is related with this novel.
What Is Globalization?
Globalization is the spread of products, technology, information, and jobs across national borders and cultures. In economic terms, it describes an interdependence of nations around the globe fostered through free trade.
Globalization is the spread of products, technology, information, and jobs acrossnations.Corporations in developed nations can gain a competitive edge throughglobalization.Developing countries also benefit through globalization as they tend to be more cost-effective and therefore attract jobs.
The benefits of globalization have been questioned as the positive effects are not necessarily distributed equally.
In this novel we can see the globalisation through the call centre. Like first is language, after that the requirements of job or particular country and the the call centre is the itself metaphor of the it.
English language is a a global language. In the call centre every character like Varun, Shyam, Esha and other who are working there, they have to speak English language. It is the reason they are replace their identity with the western name
Shyam as Sam
Varun as Victor
Radhika as Reggina
Esha as Elina
These are some examples of Globalisation which we can see in this novel.
Youth issues are in the One night at the call centre
In this novel everyone has some kind of problems like, Shyam ones money and job and also successful life room was suffering with the quarreling between his parents Radhika suffering from the marriage life because Anuj is not with her but she is is became a house wife after marriage with him and she should help and care her mother in law and also at night she is working at the call centre but she didn't get love from the Anuj so she is now guilty about that Isha wants to be more than and she give everything and leave her home parents for the modelling but she can't achieve that aim., and Military Uncle who is a retired army man he wants to live with his son and grandson but because of sound issue between he him and his son he can't Priyanka issue in in her life.
In this way the story of one night at call center is based on the reality of the life of common people. The characters portrayed here are taken from the real life.
All these characters presented the problems of the middle class Indians. In this novel each character shows the particular problem of the society. In this way the novel denotes the six different problems by six different people.
Priyanka represent the girl in India who has to follow the decision of parents at the matter of marriage. God gives the solution to it and tells her to believe in herself. Through the Military uncle Chetan Bhagat tried to show the problems of old people in the society those are betrayed by the family and it is a common and a serious problem in society. At the end he also gets his family back.
The story of the novel is very simple but the call from God makes it interesting. The conversation with God motivates the group to such an extent that they get ready to face their problems with utmost determination and motivation. There is interesting conversation happen among them... Here is some dialogue....
.....
'A hundred on busy days to hundreds' Vroom said.
'Okay, now do you know which is the most important coal in the world?'
'No,' room Seth everyone else shook their heads.
'The inner call', God said.
'The inner call? Everyone said in in Unison.
Yes the little voice inside that wants to talk to you but you can only hear it when you are at peace and then to it is hard to hear it because in modern life the network are too busy the voice tells you what you really want do you know what I am talking about?.....
That voice is mine,God said.
This is the message that what you want to do do it and listen your inner voice and make hard work and if you get the failure then don't give up but listen your inner voice and do again hard work and get the achievement and success.
At the end of the novel Shyam and Varun start a new new website business and Radhika working with NGO, Priyanka wants to be teacher so she started B.ed and Radhika file divorce against Anuj, and Military uncle go to America to meet his grandson.
