         Here is my blog on  teaching language through literature. So question is that  how it is possible ?and what is the method for teaching  this way? So, let's discuss this things in this blog. 

Introduction 

         Literary texts offer a rich source of linguistic input and can help learners to practice the four language skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing – in addition to exemplifying grammatical structures and presenting new vocabulary. Through the Drama,Novel,Poem,film, video we can  teach English language.

Why teach literature for language teaching?

Literature offers genuine samples, very wide range of styles, registers, and text-types with differing levels of difficulty 

They are best ways to indicate language properties like ‘coherence’ and ‘text organisation’ 

Leads to a general involvement with the text that would not be possible in a literature-lecture classroom

Can lead to an overall development of personality through role plays and other interactive activities

   There are other reasons as well. Further now we will  see how we can teach language through the literature.Here I want to  discuss  about  how we can  teach language through Novel or short story and through film or  video. 

Teaching language through Novel or short story

Using novels in the classroom is beneficial. There are  many plus point which I put here because through it  teacher can  develop the  basic skill of learners, like reading and writing.  and learner as well.

 

Novels encourage students to read outside the classroom and they will know about  new culture so knowledge will be increased. 

  Novels motivate students inside the classroom.

Novels and short stories  develop speaking skills.

Novels enhance listening skills.

 Novels encourage students to read outside the classroom. 

Novels expand students' vocabulary.

Novels introduce students to different cultures. 

Novels help students overcome cultural differences. 

Novels improve reading skills.  

Novels strengthen writing skills. 

Teaching language through  Film or video 

As we know that video is a audio and visual medium.It is true that  which is watching by anyone it  will be easy to  remember things then  just  reading or listen. 

It will help to  remember things 

Video and it's  subtitle will  help learners to increase the  vocabulary.

When  they will  see  the  writing in video learner will focus on spelling and correct spelling or words they  will  get. 

we can put words and image to gather so teacher can clear concept of things. 

Film will  help  learners to watch  many things and study on that. There is study of camera angle. Which gives so many new things to  learn. 

Here I put  one  video about the one of the approach natural approach  to teach language. This  kind of video will  help to teach student language. 

Conclusion 

 Teaching is not an easy  task. So there are  many ways to teach them  English or any language. Here I talked about  novel short stories and video or film. Through them  we can teach language and literature as well.
