First of all I want tell you that ELT means English language teaching. So when we talk about teaching, we know there are two side of teaching. One who is teaching means teacher and other is learner. So question is that which kind of characteristics should be in them. So this is the activity to discuss upon that. We also discussed it in our ELT class so from that and also my opinion I put here. So let's discuss it.
Here in this picture we can see some characteristics of teacher. According to me there are two main characteristics of teacher.
1) વિષયનિષ્ઠા
2) વિદ્યાર્થીનિષ્ઠા
I don't know it's English words but meaning of word is teacher should gain the knowledge from various languages or literature and he have to knowledge about his own subject.meaning of second word is teacher have quality of parental. He should think about student or can say learner. Now I want write about here what we discussed into class.
As I gave two characteristic above according to them we can find some quality of teacher.
Teacher characteristics
Quality of parental
If teacher has this quality then the relationship of students and teacher became friendly. So whenever students get problem and quiry in study they can ask freely.
Passionate
Teacher should have this because some times happened that student didn't get what teacher is trying to say. So they will ask again and again or they will make mistake many times. So teacher should teach that type of students more then two - three time.
Enthusiastic
This quality is very useful because this type quality has positive and a energetic situation. So when teacher teach effectively. So the atmosphere became live and positive so learner get thing fastly.
Positive attitude
This quality also impressive while teacher teaching.During this time they fill free to ask and discuss the things into deep way.
Knowledge
Here is the most important characteristics of teacher. Think if teacher has not this quality then what? He or she can not teach in impressive and interesting way. And student can never get that knowledge. So it is not only about the own subject knowledge but also other languages and literature knowledge should be have teacher. Why it is required? Answer that teacher can connect the various theory, term, topic and also this information make thing easy to understand. Teacher can use it to give examples.
Curiosity
Curiosity is useful for be active and be live in class while teaching. This quality's reflection we can see in student. What is the reflection positive and negative.
Flexibility
Flexibility means teacher can be jumb another topic which is related his teaching topic. So that time he should not discuss only other but he take only the reference of that. This way and another one is to flexible for students so they can trust on him or her.
Learner Characteristics
Definition The concept of learner characteristics is used in the sciences of learning and cognition to designate a target group of learners and define those aspects of their personal, aca-demic, social or cognitive self that may influence how and what they learn. Learner characteristics are important for instructional designers as they allow them to design and create tailored instructions for a target group. It is the expected that by taking account of the characteristics of learners, more efficient, effective and/or motivating instructional materials can be designed and developed. Learner characteristics can be personal, academic, social/emotional and/or cognitive in nature.
Curiosity
Learner should have the quality of curiosity.
Enthusiastic
Enthusiasm is the felling with force student be focus on learning.
Positive attitude
If student have positive attitude then they can learn things easily other wise they became nurvaous and they can not be consious.
Hunger of learning
If learner has this quality then they have interest into learning otherwise they just spent time in the academic institutions.
Passionate
This is also have into learner to learn things gradually. Because to understand things, topic will takes more time.
