We can see that Poe's stories are related with horror, superstition, revenge, murder, death, detective and so on.While reading reader has that curiosity to know the further story, what will happen next? There are suspense and thriller in work by Poe. So let's reflect some point and kind of summary of the story.
The Black Cat :
As per the title this story is about the cat. we know that people have that belief, black cat is not good sign. They believe in this kind of superstition.
The story is presented as a first-person narrative using an unreliable narrator. He is a condemned man at the outset of the story. The narrator tells us that from an early age he loves animals. He has so many pets. His wife also loves animals. They have so many pets, one of them is large Black Cat named Pluto.
In this story narrator is villain and we can see that there is nothing like hero in Poe's story they all are antagonist or can say villain.
The Tell Tale Heart
In this story some points are same as we see in The Black Cat. When we compare these both story.; In black the narrator didn't like the eye of cat and into the story of The Tell Yale Heart the same things. In black cat, cat became victims and wife of narrator. Here in this story the old man became victim.
Now we have question that how someone's eye became a reason of murder? But it is in story. Narrator didn't like the eye which old man have. He say that I love the Old Man but the Eye, which make him angry and thus he want to kill the old man. He doesn't want anything. He compares the eye with eye of Vulture because Old man 'S eye was of stone.
“The Cask of Amontillado”
This is the revenge story by Poe. "The Cask of Amontillado" has been almost universally referred to as Poe's most perfect short story; in fact, it has often been considered to be one of the world's most perfect short stories.
The first-person narrator, whom we later discover to be named Montresor, announces immediately that someone named Fortunato has injured him repeatedly and has recently insulted him. Montresor can stand no more; he vows revenge upon Fortunato. The remainder of the story deals with Montresor's methods of entrapping Fortunato and effecting his revenge upon the unfortunate Fortunato. Foremost is the fact that Montresor has never let Fortunato know of his hatred.
Knowing that Fortunato considered himself a great expert, or connoisseur, of fine wines, and especially a devotee of a sherry known as Amontillado, Montresor flattered him by obsequiously asking his opinion on a newly acquired cask of Amontillado. At the end ,Montresor is using the atmosphere of celebration to disguise the horribly atrocious act of entombing a man alive.
“The Purloined Letter”
This the directive story. This one also interesting one. In this story the ditective is Dupin and the Criminal is minister.
The whole story is upon the letter which is the mystery and police and all find the clue but they have been not successful. So then the case is going to hand of detective and at the end the letter is found by the Dupin.
This is also revenge story. Dupin taken the revenge and he want to show that why he wants to take revenge.
" The Gold bug"
"The Gold Bug " tells the story of a once-wealthy man's attempt to regain his fortune using methods that cause his friends to question his sanity. The story opens on October 18, sometime around the year 1840. The unnamed narrator describes his longtime friend, Mr.William, who moved to a small island in South Carolina after his wealthy family lost their fortune. The island is isolated and barren, save for strangely shaped shrubbery and "an almost impenetrable coppice" or woodland. Legrand lives on the island with "his man" Jupitor , a freed slave who chose to accompany Legrand when he moved to South Carolina. He lives with Legrand as an indentured servant and calls Legrand Massa Will
As the narrator inspects the drawing, Legrand's large dog bursts into the room and rushes toward the narrator to be petted. The narrator laughs and relaxes in his chair, accidentally bringing the drawing close to the fire. The narrator expresses surprise at how much the drawing appears like a skull, and Legrand is offended at the criticism of his artwork. When the narrator hands the drawing back to Legrand, a confounded expression crosses Legrand's face. He stares blankly at the parchment and ignores the narrator for the next few minutes, prompting the narrator to comment: "He made an anxious examination of the paper; turning it in all directions ... His conduct greatly astounded me." As he leaves, the narrator worries that Legrand might be losing his mind.
