Here this blog is on 'Orientalism'.This work is written by Edward said. He talks about colonial perspective and also the imperialism. In this work he wrote about east and west how the situation was there during the countries were colonised by France. So let's discuss it.
Fist when we going to discuss about it then first we should see the definition or meaning of Orientalism
Orient means east. Which countries are placed there they all are orient. Now see they have their culture, art, literature and so on. So the colonial country took that with them and say this all is our and it is our creation. So the discussion and criticism happened that is Orientalism.
Edward Said addresses the idea that the way the Orient has pictured and understood by the West is not only diminishing but it is closer to mythology then the reality.when we talking about colonial then there is a power is supreme but Said argues that the desire to understand a different culture than our own in order to co-exist with it should have nothing to do with an exchange of power and dominance, as it too often happened and resulted in years of colonization, arbitrary drawing of frontiers and the over simplification of a multitude of civilisations.
Orientalism is defined by Edward Said How does Said’s critique of the Orientalist discourse allowed for the development of a new way to interpret and represent the ideological conflict of perception between the Occident and the Orient, The characteristics of Orientalism such as Orientalism as a discourse, the relations of power it implies the creation of the ‘Oriental other’.
Balaji Rangnathan sir also talk about India. He said Edward said also talk about Orientalism of India but in his Other work named 'Culture and Imperialism.'
