Sometimes we study through the text.we get many interpretation with words. But when we see it front of our eye then? Word crest the image in our mind but when scene is going front of us it is also give us new interpretations. So here my task is to write on the Film Review on some given movie and watching while class were going. So let's discuss it.
Now here we will discuss some movies in context of post colonial study.
The Black Prince
Victoria and Abdul
Midnight children
Reluctant and Fundamentalism
Post colonialism is a term which is relate with ,colonialism, imperialism and with superiority and inferiority or can say Power as well.
England is a country who conquer the more then half of the world countries. That's why sun of the Britain is never set but at Oxford Shshi Tharoor said that God also not trust them that's why they never set the sun of Britain.
They ruled on other countries but with not goodness but brutality. They wants power and exploit people. It is for wealth and be powerful over the world.
Midnight children
This is the work which is written by Salman Rushdie. There is also movie based on this novel. This is very very interesting work by him and for that he won the Booker prize award. That work awarded twice as Booker prize.
Theme
When we talk about the theme ,there are three themes;
1 Creation and Telling or can say Narrative
2 Identity
3 Narrative History
This movie we can see as search of identity. Salim and Shiv. These both are two central character.Salim is narrator.
Salim and Shiv both born on same day and the day is independent day of India, 15th august.
When we see the whole story at the end everything is going opposite with this two characters.
Rushdie also woven the superstition and magic as well. Parvati can do the magic. Salim has power to listen the voice of mid night children. These children are born at same time when Salim born.
The Reluctant and Fundamentalism
This is the movie on Post colonial, with the corporate world. Hunger ness to be superior and attractions towards power country. In this we can see the impact of India, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Corporate world to Terror world.
We know how the colonial world is but then even we have a power we do same which we never like to happen with us. This is the bitter truth which is never accepted by anyone.
The Black Prince
This movie also related with identity. The prince is Indian so the gora people called him black. He was son of king Ranjit sinh,King of Panjab.
His up bring was in England. H has skin of Indian but he knows the culture and living style like those people. So he was in quest of Identity.
Who is he?
Is He King of Punjab or mere a black Prince ?
Victoria and Abdul
Abdul Karim (Ali Fazal), a young prison clerk from Agra, British Raj, is instructed to travel to England for Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1887 to present her with a Mohur, a gold coin which has been minted as a token of appreciation from British-ruled India. The Queen, who is lonely and tired of her fawning courtiers, develops an interest in and later a friendship with Abdul. She spends time with him alone, and promotes him to become her Munshi. She asks him to teach her Urdu and the Qur'an. When Victoria discovers that he is married, she invites his wife and mother-in-law to join him in England. They arrive wearing black Burqas, to the consternation of the household. While Victoria treats Abdul as a son, his preferment is resented by her household and inner circle, including her son Bertie, Prince of Wales (Eddie Izzard) and Prime Minister Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, The Marquess of Salisbury (Sir Michael Gambon).
